Andhra Pradesh: Global economic crisis is consequence of capitalism, says CPI(M) Secretary of State
Communist Party of India (Marxist) Secretary of State V Srinivasa Rao has described the book “The Communist Manifesto,” written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, as a weapon in the hands of the working class.
He was speaking at the Red Book Day, held at the party office in Maddilapalem here on Monday. He told the gathering that the book had completed 175 years in which it was read around the world to bring about change in society. The global economic crisis, which started in 2008, was the consequence of capitalism and there were more and more demands to introduce socialism as an alternative. The book has been translated into all the languages of the world.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the capitalist must reduce his profits and help increase the purchasing power of consumers to help the world overcome the economic crisis. This crisis continued because the capitalists were unwilling to share their profits with ordinary people. He alleged that in India, public sector companies and public assets were handed over to capitalists. He said Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels suggested in their book that socialism was the only way to change the world.
An exhibition of photographs of communist leaders from around the world and their quotes was presented on this occasion.
The Municipal Party Secretary, Mr. Jaggu Naidu chaired the program.
CPI(M) State Secretariat Member Ch. Narasinga Rao, District Secretary K. Lokanadham, Municipal Secretariat Member RKSV Kumar and Party Leaders P. Mani, V. Krishna Rao, M. Subba Rao, RP Raju and V. Narendra Kumar were present.
