Do nothing but increase exports to get the country out of the economic crisis (PM)

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Monday that only an increase in exports can lift the country out of the economic crisis.

Only vegetables or other small items are exported from the country, which cannot start the development path, he said, addressing the inaugural function of the Pak-China Business Investment Forum (PCBIF) here. . Khan said the country would only develop if industrial sectors were developed and exports increased.

He said India had made remarkable progress in the IT sector and offered its services overseas while IT sector exports to Pakistan had doubled in just one year. Citing the example of Turkey, the Prime Minister stressed that all developed countries attach importance to exports.

He argued that the most important thing is that the history of our friendship with Beijing spans more than 70 years. They are ready to cooperate with us in any way, he said. The prime minister said that China was ready to cooperate with us, but that we had never formulated a policy based on national priorities. He said the government decided to develop the industrial sector and increase exports as part of the economic policy.

He emphasized technological reforms in the agricultural sector and said China has made remarkable progress in agriculture while Pakistan builds on the tools used in ancient times.

He said Pakistan is moving rapidly towards urbanization, but in this regard, “we are facing two threats, one is food security and the other is the rapid disappearance of greenery.” In this regard, we can learn a lot from China, which has developed innovative modes of urbanization and is now doing vertical development. “

Imran said a visit to China is expected next week, the final decision of which will be made in the context of the corona situation. The prime minister, however, said the trip, if it took place, would also focus on town planning.

According to the Prime Minister’s office, the forum aimed to improve information exchange and promote communication between businesses of the two countries, thereby opening up new avenues of cooperation. The forum consists of 18 Chinese enterprises and 19 Pakistani enterprises and its objective is to promote sustainable investment, export industry and modern technology development in Pakistan.

The forum was formed with the collaboration of the Board of Investment Pakistan and all Chinese companies in Pakistan.
