Georgia Senator Emanuel Jones appointed to study committee on economic development and international relations – On Common Ground News

ATLANTA– Sen. Emanuel Jones (D – Decatur) was nominated June 23 by Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan to serve on the Senate Review Committee on Economic Development and International Relations.

“Georgia has long been a symbol of a prosperous economy and the first state in the country to do business. Thanks to this, Georgia has continued to maintain strong relations with international partners around the world, providing solid opportunities for economic growth while continuing to support local economies,” said Senator Jones. “I hope that with this study committee, we will be able to discover more beneficial opportunities to continue this growth and development not only locally, but also around the world. I am grateful to Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan for appointing me to this task force and I look forward to getting to work for Georgia.

The Senate Study Committee on Economic Development and International Relations was authorized by Senate Resolution 822, passed in the 2022 legislative session. The study committee will be composed of five members of the Senate, including the chairs of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee-Economic Development and the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee-Transportation, the Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development or designate, a non-legislative member (appointed by the Lieutenant Governor) specializing in local economic development and Lieutenant Governor (serving ex officio). The study committee will be responsible for assessing the conditions, needs, issues and problems related to economic development and international relations and reserves the right to recommend any action or legislation relating to the subject.
