“Road transport essential to economic development”
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, underlined the importance of road transport in the economic growth and development of the country.
He spoke at the inauguration of the multi-million naira national secretariat of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), the first to be established in its 43-year history.
The secretariat of the one-story building containing several offices and a conference room is located in Area 5 of Wuse, in the national capital.
“The government should continue to do what it can to help your industry thrive. We will also continue to invest significantly in road transport, which will expand your routes.
The Federation Government Secretary, Boss Mustapha, hailed the union’s proactivity with the government to improve the transport sector, improving transport issues in Nigeria.
Mustapha, who was represented by Dr. Habiba Lawal, Permanent Secretary of the Ecological Projects Office (EPO), said RTEAN was a union backed by law and committed to the transformation and reform of the transport sector of the Nigerian economy. .
“It is therefore necessary for RTEAN to continue the transformation of the sector according to the best global practices.
Earlier, National Chairman of RTEAN, Alhaji Musa Muhammed said, “Our aim is to reposition the road transport sector to support our commitment to reforming public transport management to support government policies and the daily needs of people. Nigerians with their connectivity and mobility. .”
