The Padma Bridge to boost the country’s economic growth: Ctg BGMEA

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina marked a milestone in the country’s development by inaugurating the dream Padma Bridge – a symbol of ability and dignity, said Syed Nazrul Islam, first vice president of the Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh (BGMEA).

With unprecedented connectivity and increased economic growth, the country will proudly stand in the world as a worthy nation, he said during a live broadcast of the inauguration of Padma Bridge at BGMEA Bhaban in Chattogram Saturday, according to a press release.

The multi-purpose Padma Bridge will speed up industrialization in the southern part of the country, the BGMEA leader said, noting that apart from Chattogram port, Mongla and Payra port activities will also increase.

Therefore, other infrastructure development activities, including the construction of the Bay Terminal, must be accelerated to make Chattogram Port a world-class port, he added.

Syed Nazrul Islam urged all to cooperate for the speedy implementation of several development projects such as Karnaphuli Tunnel, Lalkhan Bazar Airport Flyover, Matarbari Deep Sea Port, Cox’s Railway Bazaar and the megaproject to reduce congestion in the port city.

Vice President of the Trade Body, Rakibul Alam Chowdhury, said, “As a proud partner in the country’s historic achievements and development with the opening of the Padma Bridge, BGMEA is playing a pioneering role in supporting export growth, including job creation.

Former and current directors, vice presidents and senior officials of BGMEA were present at the event.
